Candidacy Page

Hi my name’s Elliot and I am standing as the 30-50 coalition parliamentary candidate for Bethnal Green and Bow. I am currently a student at the London School of Economics and volunteering at CARE International UK. My background is in charity work. I have a long and close relationship with Helping East Lanka Progress, a small tsunami relief charity that has been supporting tsunami affected children in Sri Lanka since 2004 and I have also worked closely with housing charity Shelter. Homelessness is one of the driving reasons behind my candidacy. The cost of living crisis in this country is at breaking point. As a small percentage continue to reap the rewards of unabated capitalism, the majority in society are being increasingly left behind or even forced out. The level of affordable and available housing is at crisis point whilst our public services are being slowly eroded as further austerity is forced upon the nation. It is against this background that I have decided to stand for election this coming May. To make a stand against the status quo of the main political parties that offer no real change. A politics that many are disillusioned with, and one which most of us did not vote for. Enough is enough and it is time to take a stand. A vote for me will show again that Bethnal Green and Bow is prepared to make a difference a vote for an alternative future, not more of the same.
